Ukulele Kids Club Celebrates Tony Award Successes of Board, Advisory Board Members Kira Turchin, Stacie Weisbrot & Laura Benanti
NEW YORK, NY — [June 8th, 2026] The Ukulele Kids Club (UKC) is proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of several members of its Board of Directors and Advisory Board following this year’s Tony Awards, recognizing their outstanding contributions to Broadway and the performing arts community.
Among those honored is UKC Board member Stacie Weisbrot, who, alongside her husband Steven Weisbrot, became a Tony Award-winning producer for their work co-producing Liberation, the critically acclaimed play by Bess Wohl. The powerful memory play, which explores themes of second-wave feminism and generational legacy, was recognized with the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and earned a Tony Award nomination this season. Stacie and Steven were also co-producers on Cats: The Jellicle Ball, which won three Tony’s for Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design. Additionally, the Weisbrots were investors in Schmigadoon, which took the win for Best Musical this year.
UKC also proudly recognizes Advisory Board member Laura Benanti, who has served on the organization’s Advisory Board for the past six years. A celebrated Broadway performer and advocate, Benanti played a prominent role in this year’s Tony Awards festivities as co-host of The Tony Awards: Act One alongside acclaimed performer Titus Burgess. Laura’s longstanding support of UKC has helped connect Broadway’s brightest talents with children and families who benefit from the healing power of music.
Furthermore, UKC congratulates Board member Kira Turchin, a multiple Tony Award-winning producer and co-founder of The Broadway Investor’s Club. A former biomedical engineer, Kira has become a respected force in commercial theater, helping bring award-winning productions to Broadway audiences. She earned her first Tony Award as a co-producer of The Outsiders in 2024 and her second Tony Award for the revival of Sunset Boulevard in 2025. This season, The Broadway Investor’s Club received three Tony Award nominations and an Olivier Award nomination, with multiple productions earning top honors.
It was through her work as a producer that Kira met Stacie Weisbrot. Stacie and Steven joined The Broadway Investor’s Club as investors and quickly became producing partners, leading to Stacie joining Kira on the UKC Board of Directors in 2026.
Together, Stacie Weisbrot, Laura Benanti, and Kira Turchin have been instrumental supporters of the UKC Broadway Program, an initiative created by Broadway performer Abby Jaros, who recognized the opportunity to engage the Broadway community in UKC’s mission of bringing music to hospitalized children around the world.
